Singapore Revises Veterinary Import Conditions for Pork and Pork Products

On October 1, 2025, the Singapore Food Agency issued a trade circular announcing revised veterinary import conditions for pork and pork products, with a focus on updated requirements for chilled pork. SFA said the revision was made in view of advancements in the meat industry and alignment with international standards.

Under the revised conditions, SFA removed one previous requirement related to chilled pork hygiene and shelf life, and updated the condition covering Trichinella risk control. The updated requirement allows chilled pork to come from animals originating from a compartment with negligible Trichinella infection risk, or from animals tested negative by an approved detection method, or from pork processed to inactivate Trichinella larvae according to Codex guidelines.

SFA also stated that it would work with overseas competent authorities to amend veterinary health certificates, while current certificates issued by exporting countries would continue to be accepted. For meat traders and animal-protein supply chains, the update provides a more flexible framework while maintaining food safety and import-source control.
